I consider it a privilege to have served as the first President of Indian Paper Corrugated & Packaging Machinery Manufactures Association (ICPMA. ICPMA came into existence when the Indian Corrugated packaging machinery industry was witnessing a phenomenal transition from semi-automatic plants to world class plants. The first job for the association was cut out – to streamline the efforts made by the members to embrace change. Another responsibility was to work in the direction of getting the deserved importance for the India corrugated packaging industry. For this we had to ensure that the policy makers took the initiatives to provide level playing fields for the India firms to compete with the best in the world.

During my tenure, I was fortunate enough to witness the impressive growth of the boom in retails, real estate, hospitality, etc. and the overall progress made by the country’s economy. ICPMA saw to it that its members stood benefitted by this upward surge. The association also helped its members to cope with the perplexities posed by demonetization and later, the introduction of GST.

No less creditable is the fact that in an increasingly volatile market, corrugated packaging machinery manufacturers have been able to hold sway. The association has played its part in emboldening them.

Since its inception, ICPMA has been growing in strength and stature with many new members joining. ICPMA has now become one of the crucial associations in the Indian Corrugated packaging industry. I would like to that other office bearers and all members who lent me their support to lead the association.

I wish the very best for the newly elected President and other office bearers. I firmly believe that their leadership will provide the necessary impetus for the association at large and the member firms to break new global benefitting the industry and the society.
